Board Composition

The OSU board includes a diverse mix of campus and community representatives. According to OSU Bylaws, Section 4.3, the board is composed of:

Appointed Directors

• 8–11 students
• 1 faculty member
• 1 alumni representative
• 1 community member

Designated Directors

• OSU Director (or designee)
• Vice President for Student Affairs (or designee)

Each year, 3-4 appointed directors serve as Executive Officers in the roles of Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Student board members are appointed annually by the university president.

Serving on the OSU Board of Directors offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on campus, develop leadership skills in a collaborative and inclusive environment, and build valuable experience by working closely with fellow students, OSU staff, and university leaders. Board members play a key role in shaping the direction and future of the Otter Student Union.
