National week focuses on transfer students Oct. 18-22

National Transfer Student Week celebrates transfer students and the professional staff that support them on their journeys. The annual event takes place Oct. 18-22 this year.

National Transfer Student Week celebrates transfer students and the professional staff that support them on their journeys. The annual event takes place Oct. 18-22 this year. 

Today's students are transferring more than ever before, and it's vitally important to build awareness of common transfer barriers and the diverse student needs and identities within our transfer populations, according to the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students

The Personal Growth and Counseling Center and the Transfer Student Success Center at CSUMB collaborate year-round to support transfer student success. Students are encouraged to sign up on myRaft, the official campus community platform for students, to keep up with TSSC events. Regular events and programs include:

Drop-in with the TSSC takes place from 10-11:30 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays. Transfer students can discuss their questions and concerns with peer mentors.

Let's Talk! Is a space to build community and campus connections, share tips and tools for adjusting, and openly discuss shared experiences. In this series, topics may vary but will likely include discussing day-to-day challenges, balancing needs, wellness topics, and how to seek support and resources. Meets from 3-3:45 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Transfer Peer Mentor Program allows experienced and new transfer students to develop peer-to-peer relationships to help identify challenges, set goals, navigate CSUMB systems, and develop strategies for academic success. The program is currently accepting mentee applications.
