CSUMB honors 800-plus workers for National Student Employees Week
Student workers are honored during Naitonal Student Employees Week.
Working students will be honored at this week’s Otter Thursday from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., April 11, on the OSU’s main quad plaza with special games and free Otter Pops.
The special theme is in honor of National Student Employees Week. CSUMB has more than 800 student employees, said Maddison Burton, director of Human Resources and Payroll.
“They are really the heartbeat of the campus,” Burton said. “They bring a lot of creativity and efficiency to what we do.”
The Otter Thursday event is an opportunity to recognize the workers’ roles on campus, she added.
“I’m glad we’re able to dedicate a week to acknowledging all the hard work they do,” Burton said.
Besides providing a mechanism for earning money while in school, she said students also gain important experience working on campus.
“They’re really getting invaluable skills,” she said. “We have students who take on full-time jobs right after they leave us.”
