The plant and soil science capstone takes place 3 - 5 p.m. May 17 in the Library

Each spring and fall, CSU Monterey Bay celebrates graduating seniors, credential candidates, and master’s-degree students for completing one of our most distinctive and meritorious educational requirements – the senior capstone.

During the Capstone Festival, graduating students present their projects, demonstrating their understanding of their respective fields, as well as the ability to critically evaluate and synthesize materials across disciplines.

The festival takes place over three days – May 17-19 – and across almost every academic area of campus.

The Department of Applied Environmental Science capstones will take the form of talks and poster presentations by biology, environmental studies and other science majors from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 1188 at the Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library.

Among those presentations is "Quantifying the Benefits of Managed Goat Grazing of the Grasslands of the Fort Ord National Monument" by Mario Coronado Cartmell.

Some capstones are performed before an audience. The Music and Performing Arts capstones are 12 - 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the Music Hall Building; while the Cinematic Arts and Technology capstones consist of a screening of short student films 6 - 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, at the World Theater.

Some capstones take place within a narrow window, such as the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, scheduled from 12 - 2 p.m. Friday, May 19.

Others are more wide-open, as in the College of Business capstone presentations which are slated to occur throughout the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m, on Thursday, May 18.

All are welcome to attend the capstones, speak to students and faculty, look inside classrooms and labs, and witness the culminating projects of graduating seniors as they complete their studies and move on to the next step in their journeys.
