    The project “aims to create and preserve a historical record, giving voice to the diverse perspectives, memories, struggles and achievements of the faculty, as it worked collaboratively and sometimes contentiously, crossing disciplinary and other divides, to build the academic heart and soul of the university,” according to its introduction page.

    For over 30 years, CSU Summer Arts has assembled some of the world’s best creative artists to teach and inspire students across all art genres. Due to the impact of COVID-19, CSU Summer Arts was forced to cancel the 2020 season. However, to foster creativity and inspire hope, the CSU Summer Arts program has established a one-time scholarship opportunity open to any current California State University student.     The Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) at CSUMB’s College of Business held the final round of the 11th Annual Startup Challenge Monterey Bay in May. Contestants competed online this year because of COVID-19, with 30 teams of entrepreneurs vying to be champions in four divisions.

    The Koret Foundation, a Jewish philanthropic organization based in San Francisco, has donated $1.63 million to CSU Monterey Bay. The funds will be distributed over five years to be used for: supporting students to complete their college studies in four years, providing impactful research opportunities for first-generation scholars, and preparing young people for community and national leadership roles, a news release said.

    Two CSUMB undergraduate students took top awards at the 34th Annual California State University (CSU) Student Research Competition on April 24. CSU East Bay hosted this year’s event, which was virtual for the first time because of the coronavirus pandemic.
