Resource Sharing

ILL Resource Sharing Policy

  • You must be a current CSUMB student, faculty, or staff member to use these services.
  • If requesting a book title or journal article, search OneSearch and select "Everything" or you can search by book chapter, book title, or article title. Select the “Articles” view to determine whether the item is available and can be requested through OneSearch.
  • Due to copyright restrictions, you will not be able to request a full digital copy of a book. You will only be able to request a PDF copy of a book chapter. Please include the chapter title or number you are requesting in the request form.
    • Books will be returned to the lending library if not picked up. When received, articles will be made available as PDF files for retrieval from your library account-requests page. Due to copyright restrictions, links become inactive after 30 days but downloaded up to 90 times so we recommend saving the PDF onto a USB drive, your personal device, or to your Google drive.
    • The lending library charges for non-returned books. $90.00 minimum. These charges will be passed onto the requester if the items are not returned.
    • Resource sharing does not fulfill requests for textbooks or items on course reserve for CSUMB students.
  • Average turnaround time for resource sharing requests is generally 1-5 working days for journal articles and 2-10 working days for books. Hard to locate items and items coming from outside of California may take longer.
  • Users may check on the status of all of their resource sharing requests at any time via their library account.
  • For more information about these services contact us via electronic mail at: library_document_delivery@csumb.edu
  • NOTICE: The Library generally only borrows and lends videos from within the CSU system. Exceptions are made.
  • CSUMB Faculty members who desire videos for classroom viewing should first consult the Library's existing video collection for appropriate titles. Faculty may also wish to contact their librarian subject selectors to inquire about the possibility of purchasing videos, CDs and other media for classroom instruction or the library collection.
