Performance Evaluations
A performance evaluation is a formal opportunity to review an employee’s progress and set future goals. Managers evaluate the performance of their direct reports at least once each year, and new and probationary employees are evaluated more frequently. These evaluations are designed to encourage continuous professional growth, stimulate improvement where the employee is not meeting expectations, and facilitate the achievement of university goals.
Supervisors should be consistent in applying performance evaluation practices, include both verbal and written two-way communication, and base evaluations on observable and, when appropriate, measurable outcomes. Please use the current evaluation forms posted on this page (do not use saved copies), download the form before completing it, and follow the instructions for attachments and signatures.
