Medical services available at the CHC
The Campus Health Center (CHC) provides urgent, primary, and diagnostic care, as well as referral services to students, faculty, staff, their dependents, and guests of the CSUMB community.
Each semester, students pay the CSUMB Health Services fee to receive the CSU-required basic student health services per Executive Order 943.
The semester's Health Services fee provides students these services at no additional charge:
- Office visits
- General exams
- Ear lavage
- Peak flow
and the following lab tests:
- Thin Prep PAP
- CBC (Blood)
- Urine C&S (Culture and Sensitivity)
- Throat Culture C&S
- GC (Gonorrhea)
- Urine HCG (Pregnancy)
- UA (Microscope)

- HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin)
Services not included in the semester's Health Services fee, but available at a discounted rate include:

- TB (Tuberculosis)/PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) Skin Test
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunization
- Flu shots
- However, a free flu vaccination clinic for the campus community is held each Fall Semester.
The CHC provides private, personalized care for women with an emphasis on prevention and self-responsibility that include contraceptive education, complete examination (no charge), PAP (no charge), colposcopy, and other lab tests (at no charge or discounted rates depending upon the test), as well as health counseling.
- Please refrain from sexual activity for a least 72 hours prior to your PAP to ensure test accuracy.
As of January 1, 2023, the CHC is in compliance with women's health services as directed in Senate Bill 24.
Condoms are always available at no charge at the CHC.
Birth control refills: PLEASE allow at least a 48-hour notice for birth control or other refills for prescriptions originally filled at the CHC. You may call 831-582-3966 and leave a message for your refills. Remember to clearly state your name, phone number, and prescription information. The CHC is NOT a retail pharmacy so we are unable to sell over-the-counter medications or devices and can ONLY refill prescriptions that were originally prescribed at this clinic.
Fees for services are due and payable at time of service. The Campus Health Center (CHC) accepts cash, check, Money Order, Visa, Master card, Discover, American Express, and ATM/Debit cards. The CHC is able to bill many PPO medical insurance carriers or provide a statement that the student may submit to their insurance carrier for reimbursement. Unfortunately, the CHC is unable to bill HMOs. See our Fees web page for more information.
Members of the campus community, including faculty, staff, and dependents of students may also access services at the Campus Health Center (CHC), but costs are not covered through the Student Health fee and are not eligible for the discounted student rate. The CHC offers a reasonable fee for all services, and accepts many PPO and other non-HMO insurance plans. Please confirm coverage with your provider prior to receiving services at the CHC.
