About the Dean of Students Office
Our office provides care, support, advocacy and accountability for all students at Cal State Monterey Bay. We collaborate with faculty, staff and administration across the university to ensure the safety, well-being, and academic success of Otters at every level of study.
Meet the Dean: Dr. Reuban Rodriguez

Dr. Reuban Rodriguez, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students, joined the CSUMB community in March of 2024.
Prior to becoming an Otter, Dr. Rodriguez served as the dean of students at Virginia Commonwealth University for more than 20 years. He has a doctorate of education in educational leadership from University of Central Florida, a master of science in urban studies from Georgia State University, and a bachelor’s of arts in English from Emory University.
