Cayuse SP (Sponsored Projects) is a research administration system used by CSUMB to manage the full lifecycle of grant proposals and awards. It streamlines proposal development, routing, approvals, and compliance tracking in a centralized platform. Cayuse SP enables investigators, administrators, and leadership to collaborate efficiently, ensure institutional and sponsor requirements are met, and maintain accurate records. The system supports budgeting, electronic approvals, and integration with other research tools, improving transparency and accountability. By automating key processes, Cayuse SP helps institutions reduce administrative burden, enhance compliance, and accelerate the submission and management of sponsored research projects.
Cayuse SP facilitates all proposal and award reviews within a unified system with a standardized workflow. This new system allows for centralized submission development, review, and management for proposals and awards that ensures compliance with University policies and compliance.
Proposals submissions within Cayuse SP allow you to monitor the status and see when the project is funded. The system ensures compliance between sponsor requirements and facilitates university oversight with approval routing and compliance oversight.
To access Cayuse, log in using your University Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials and navigate to the Cayuse login page via your Staff or Faculty CSUMB Dashboard/Apps. For easier access, we recommend bookmarking the login page in your browser—simply click the star icon in your browser’s address bar and save it to your favorites.
Once logged in to Cayuse, you can navigate to your profile by clicking on your name and selecting My Profile from the drop down menu. The Home page functions as a dashboard for assigned tasks. You can access various Cayuse modules by clicking on Products and selecting the module of choice from the drop down menu (e.g., Sponsored Projects, Human Ethics) based on your permissions.
If you experience issues logging in or the module you are looking for doesn't populate under the Products menu, email spo@csumb.edu to confirm your account credentials and access.
Cayuse functions best on up-to-date versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. Avoid using outdated browsers or Internet Explorer, as they may cause performance issues. If you encounter technical difficulties, clearing your browser cache or trying a different supported browser often resolves most problems. For persistent errors, ensure pop-ups are enabled for Cayuse and contact spo@csumb.edu for further assistance.
