Editor Roles and Publishing Workflow

The publishing workflow helps ensure content on csumb.edu is accurate, accessible and aligned with university standards. Two roles work together to review and publish website updates:

Content Editors

Content Editors are responsible for creating and updating content within assigned sections of the website. They:

  • Create and edit webpage content.
  • Submit Non-Core content updates to a Content Publisher for review and publishing.
  • Work with their division to keep content current and accurate.

Content Publishers 

Content Publishers provide an additional layer of review before content is published. They:

  • Have the same editing capabilities as Content Editors, plus access to additional content types.
  • Review, approve and publish Non-Core content submitted by Content Editors within their division.
  • Submit Core content updates to University Communications for review and publishing.

Content Types You Can Edit 

After completing training and receiving access, Content Editors and Content Publishers can create and edit the following content types in Terminalfour:

Access to all other content types is managed by University Communications to help maintain consistency, accessibility and brand standards across the university website. If you need changes to a restricted content type, submit a Digital Marketing Optimize case.

Content Publishers

The following Content Publishers review and publish Non-Core content updates for their divisions. Contact your division's Content Publisher for questions about reviewing or publishing website updates. For assistance with Core content, web strategy or accessibility, contact the University Communications Web and Content Strategy Team.
