Roles and Approval Workflow

Editors and Publishers work together to keep content on csumb.edu accurate, accessible and aligned with university standards. Their Terminalfour permissions and approval responsibilities vary by role.

Editors

Editors create and maintain content within their assigned sections of the website. Editors can:

  • Create and update approved content types.
  • Submit Non-Core Content to their Publisher for review and publishing.
  • Work with their department or division to keep web content accurate and up to date.

Publishers

Publishers have Editor permissions as well as additional review and approval responsibilities. Publishers can:

  • Create and update approved content types.
  • Review and approve Non-Core Content submitted by Editors within their division.
  • Coordinate Core Content updates and submit them to University Communications for publishing.

Divisions retain ownership and responsibility for their Core Content. Due to current technical limitations in Terminalfour, University Communications serves as the system Publisher for Core Content and publishes updates on behalf of the division.

For more information about content ownership, responsibilities and university web standards, see Website Content Standards and Responsibilities.
