Alumna Lina Melchor Returns to Lead Pebble Beach Scholars Program
April 2, 2025
Cal State Monterey Bay is proud to welcome back Sustainable Hospitality & Tourism Management alumna Lina Melchor as the new Program Coordinator for the Pebble Beach Scholars Program.

Lina Melchor, Pebble Beach Scholars Program
A first-generation college graduate from the small town of Aromas, Lina earned her Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Hospitality Management with a concentration in Hotel, Resort, and Event Management in 2016 as part of the program’s first graduating class. With over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry—most recently spending nine years in leadership at Pebble Beach Resorts—Lina brings a wealth of real-world knowledge and a passion for mentoring the next generation.
Her career journey began with a high school job cooking at a local deli and evolved into management at the prestigious Pebble Beach Company, where she became the restaurant manager for Sticks at The Inn at Spanish Bay.
Lina’s own path to success was shaped by a formative internship at Pebble Beach while still a CSUMB student, as well as the mentorship and guidance she received from faculty. Now, she returns with a mission to provide that same level of support and opportunity to today’s Scholars.
“Make the most of every volunteer opportunity, networking event, and internship,” Lina advises students. “These experiences are what truly shape your future… You’ll be able to look back and say, ‘I did that.’”
Outside of her professional life, Lina is a proud mom to a 14-month-old daughter and wife to a fellow CSUMB alumnus, with whom she shares a dream of opening their own restaurant in the Monterey Bay area.
Dr. Paige P. Viren, Executive Director of the Sustainable Hospitality & Tourism Management Program, shared her excitement, “We are thrilled to welcome Lina Melchor as the Pebble Beach Scholars Program Coordinator. Lina is a proud graduate of our Sustainable Hospitality & Tourism Management program, and her leadership experience at Pebble Beach makes her the perfect fit for this pivotal role. I’m so excited to work alongside her to ensure the success of this groundbreaking partnership between Pebble Beach Company and CSUMB.”
We’re proud to have one of our own back on campus helping shape the future of hospitality through mentorship, opportunity, and leadership. Welcome home, Lina!
