Dr. Babita Gupta Delivers Course on Blockchain Technology to Senior Executives, Faculty, and Students Across India

Dr. Babita Gupta, a leader in data analytics and information systems education and research, was recently invited to conduct a one-week innovative course titled "Blockchain for Secured Organizations," funded by the Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN), Government of India. Held from January 8–13, 2025, the course was delivered both in person and via live stream, engaging faculty, senior executives, administrators, students, and NGO representatives from across India.
The program offered a deep dive into blockchain fundamentals, security challenges, and practical applications such as supply chain management, fraud prevention, and intellectual property protection.
Key discussions explored scalability, privacy concerns, and regulatory compliance, equipping participants with the knowledge to assess and implement blockchain solutions effectively. Interactive case studies and hands-on exercises provided deeper insights into blockchain’s security features, integration strategies, and adoption challenges.
Dr. Gupta’s sessions, which included interactive case studies and hands-on exercises, also featured insights from a guest speaker—the CEO of a leading blockchain services provider. Notably, Dr. Gupta is widely regarded as a role model for female students in India, inspiring the next generation of women in technology and leadership.
The GIAN initiative aligns with the CSUMB’s College of Business AACSB initiative emphasizing global academic collaboration and strengthening international scholarly networks.

Dr. Babita Gupta, Ph.D. has a doctorate in Management Sciences and Information Technology from the University of Georgia, Athens, GA. She is a Professor of Information Systems at CSUMB and faculty lead for the Business Analytics & Information Systems concentration within the BSBA degree program. She is a member of the Association for Information Systems and serves on the Governor’s Cybersecurity Taskforce, the International Journal of Information Management Editorial Advisory Board, and the Association for Information System College of Academic Leadership Advisory Board. Dr. Gupta actively researches, presents, and publishes in the subject areas of business intelligence, management information systems, business analytics, and more.
