The minor will expand your professional opportunities through an understanding of the principles of health promotion and disease prevention, public health concepts, behavioral and social theories related to health, cultural competence with diverse communities, and collaborative and advocacy skills.
Educational Objectives
Our collaborative, co-teaching approach brings together faculty from the Department of Health, Human Services & Public Policy with those from the Department of Kinesiology, providing you with a enriched, multidisciplinary perspective.
Our faculty are local practitioners in health and human services, which means you’ll gain the most current and relevant instruction that’s reflective of what’s happening with regards to community health issues.
Our integration of equity, social justice, and collaborative leadership throughout the curriculum will immerse you in issues that are integral to public health and prepare you with the equitable mindset that today’s community health employers are seeking.
Our focus on cross-cultural competencies will equip you with a critical understanding of the differences between self and others, preparing you to build relationships and effectively serve the needs of culturally diverse populations and communities.
