A Lifetime of Value

Anthropology, Minor

The Anthropology minor will prepare you with an understanding of classic and contemporary anthropological theories, the ability to identify and understand quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis, and the ability to demonstrate your knowledge of historical and contemporary cultures.

Educational Objectives

Our strong archaeology component includes a course in forensic anthropology and will equip you with the skills and abilities to connect theoretical concepts with real world applications.

Our opportunities to connect with local fieldwork will take you out into archaeological sites throughout our region, gaining valuable hands-on skills in data collection and analysis.

Our comprehensive approach to the field of study will provide you with a well-rounded skill set, including the ability to effectively communicate and articulate your findings, which is valuable in any number of professions.

As an Anthropology minor you’ll have opportunities to take advantage of our distinctive location by conducting research on the societies that currently and/or previously lived here. For example, a recent senior capstone student project examined the history of seafood consumption by local indigenous populations, and conducted interviews with modern tribe members about the role of traditional foods and food practices.
