Training and Compliance

Ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on campus is a top priority at Cal State Monterey Bay. This starts with educating the entire Otter community about Title IX.

Required Training for Employees

Training and communication are key to preventing sexual violence on campus, as well as in helping the university respond appropriately to reports of sexual misconduct and discrimination.

As part of federal law, we provide an annual Gender Equity and Title IX training program for all staff and faculty members. This interactive, online course covers topics such as:

  • How to recognize sexual misconduct
  • How to report incidents to campus authorities
  • How to respond to known or suspected sexual violence
  • How to help maintain an environment free of sexual misconduct

Required Training for Students

All CSUMB students must complete an online Sexual Violence Prevention course that covers:

  • Sexual misconduct and assault
  • Sexual harassment
  • Dating and relationship violence
  • Stalking
  • Incident reporting options
  • Campus support resources

Students have six weeks to complete this training. If they miss this deadline, a hold is put on their account, which could prevent them from registering for future classes.

CSU Civil Rights Reporting Dashboard

The CSU Civil Rights Reporting Dashboard/Annual Report Survey compiles data on the number of reports, complaints, investigations and outcomes. It provides the Chancellor’s Office and CSUMB with critical data necessary to identify and track emerging patterns and trends, and highlights opportunities for additional prevention education and training. To see our latest report, select 'Monterey Bay' from the drop down menu.
