Alternate Format Accommodations
Students might be authorized to receive alternate formats of text.
Examples of formats offered include:
- E-text
- PDFs converted via optical character recognition
- Digital audio
- Large print
- Braille
Upon receiving an accommodation letter with an alternative formats accommodation, SDAC will work directly with the student to ensure they receive the necessary alternate formats for their courses.
Students authorized for alternate formats of materials may need assignment extensions during the initial four weeks of class due to the time required to provide the converted materials. Faculty are responsible for providing authorized students with all handouts electronically in .doc or .docx form, or an Optimal Character Recognition PDF. Alternatively, ten days prior to dissemination, faculty may send the handouts to SDAC for conversion at sdacaltmedia@csumb.edu.
