Getting involved in sustainability has never been easier at CSUMB. Built on the former Fort Ord military base, our campus is a powerful example of environmental restoration and reuse. From the transformation of Fort Ord into a world-class university to features like solar benches around the OSU and library, sustainability is woven into everyday campus life.

As an individual you can play a vital role in sustainability with simple actions, such as sorting you waste properly, taking alternative methods of transportation, refilling body care products at the zero waste Wonderfil station at the OSU, finding new treasures or donating old ones to Second Wave Supplies, bringing your own reusable eating ware and water bottle to events, or choosing plant-forward food options. While seemingly small, individual actions build upon each other when done in tandem. CSUMB is a place where a small ripple today can become the sustainable waves of tomorrow.

Want to go beyond individual action? We have you covered! Students can join the Associated Students’ Environmental Affairs Committee, faculty and staff can participate in the Green Office Program, all event organizers can host a sustainable event, and all of campus is welcome to visit or donate to Second Wave Supplies.
