Thank you for partnering with Cal State Monterey Bay to offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for your workshop or educational event. Our goal is to make this process as seamless as possible by providing clear guidance and the information needed for you and your participants.

The details below help us evaluate your course and determine CEU eligibility. CEUs are calculated based on instructional (teaching) hours only and exclude breaks, lunch periods, and travel time.

A Continued Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized measuring method used to quantify approved learning during professional development and training activities.

CSUMB’s College of Extended Education offers CEUs for qualified events based on the number of total training hours:

  • One (1.0) CEU = 10 clock hours of planned, structured learning
    • 10 hours = 1.0 CEU
  • CEUs are rounded down
    • Example: 12.5 hours = 1.2 CEUs; 7.5 hours = 0.7 CEUs
  • For conversion purposes, 1.0 CEU is equivalent to 1.0 non-degree track quarter unit value
  • CEUs are not academic units and cannot be transferred into a degree program

Please email questions and completed forms directly to Karen Sellick.
