CSUMB Set to Host 8th Annual Startup Hackathon
SEASIDE, Ca., October 31, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay’s (CSUMB) Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) is set to host the 8th annual Startup Hackathon at CSUMB’s University Center from Nov. 1-3, 2019. This year’s theme is “Smart Cities: Build tech to make our communities smarter and safer.”
SEASIDE, Ca., October 31, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay’s (CSUMB) Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) is set to host the 8th annual Startup Hackathon at CSUMB’s University Center from Nov. 1-3, 2019. This year’s theme is “Smart Cities: Build tech to make our communities smarter and safer.”
Teams of students and community members will begin the competition on Friday evening and work until Sunday afternoon to identify challenges, create solutions and compete for the most innovative solutions to improving our communities. The iiED has partnered with Monterey Bay DART for this year’s Hackathon as DART will support teams that use drones, automation and robotics technologies to build their solutions.
The competition will begin Friday, November 1, at 5 p.m. and culminate with a public event showcasing the final projects on Sunday, November 3 from 2-5 p.m.
This year’s Hackathon is hosted by iiED and CSUMB’s School of Computing and Design. Startup Hackathon is supported by sponsorship from the Fort Ord Reuse Authority (FORA), Cabrillo College, Hartnell College and CalGE. The Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) focuses the resources of CSUMB, other regional institutions, successful entrepreneurs and other regional resources to build and support the Monterey Bay entrepreneurial ecosystem.
