CSU Monterey Bay’s Director of Athletics Kirby Garry continues to demonstrate his outstanding leadership. Not only is he coming off of leading the CSUMB Athletics programs to one of their most successful years to date, but he has also been named president of the Division 2 Athletic Directors Association for the 2023-24 academic year.
“I’m always thankful and proud to represent CSUMB and Otter Athletics in these national leadership spaces.” noted Garry. “I’m looking forward to the year ahead as we continue to navigate the evolving landscape of higher education and Division II athletics.”
The purpose of the D2 ADA is to empower its membership in their roles as directors of athletics. It is a division of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the largest association of collegiate athletic administrators.
An active member of the NCAA Division II leadership community, Garry served as the D2 ADA vice president for the past three years. He also has served as chair of the NCAA DII Membership Committee, the NACDA Executive Board and the NCAA Mental Health Task Force.
"We are excited to have Kirby Garry appointed as the president of the Division 2 Athletic Director's Association," said Ben Corpus, vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. "This appointment serves as recognition of his unwavering dedication and visionary mindset as a leader who has propelled our athletic program to unprecedented heights with few resources. I know he will bring with him our CSUMB values of inclusivity, collaboration and innovation to his work with colleagues in the association and will always keep the needs of our student-athletes at the heart of his work."
Garry has served as the first vice president of the D2 ADA, as well as the chair of the NCAA D2 Membership Committee.
