Network Services is responsible for the “behind the scenes” technical architecture. It supports IT network, server and telecommunications environments. Network Services is responsible for keeping data secure and servers online and operational.
Network Services comprises Network Engineering, Network Operations, Network Pathways, Telecommunications and Broadcasting.
Network Engineering is responsible for all of the electronics that allow you to use CSUMB’s network resources. We maintain the campus firewalls, the campus wireless network, and all routers and switches on campus.
The physical network we manage and support handles all of your voice, data, and video connections across the CSU Monterey Bay campus. CSUMB has dual redundant 10Gbit connections to the Internet, wireless WiFi access in all university buildings on the Main Campus.
Network Operations is responsible for management of two data centers, care and feeding of 200+ servers, supporting approximately 200 Terabytes of shared storage, supporting our students, staff and faculty on and off campus.
Network Pathways is responsible for the miles of cable behind the faceplate in your office or dorm room, telecommunications cable under ground on campus, the campus cable TV system, and the East Campus Cable Modem System.
Telecommunications is responsible for all the phones in your offices and classrooms, the campus Phone Switch or PBX, Voice Mail system, Call Centers and full connectivity to the global Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) and cell carrier networks.
Live-Streaming - Our broadcast team delivers live-streams and broadcasts for over 100 sporting events, performances and special events a year on the Internet and Campus TV system.
TV Service - In all Residence Halls CSUMB provides over 120 TV channels, primarily from DirectTV, including almost 30 channels in unscrambled HDTV format.
