Join us for this year’s International Education Week keynote featuring Dr. Jeremias Zunguze, Associate Professor of Ethnic Studies in CSUMB’s Humanities and Communication Department. Dr. Zunguze will explore how international education both expands and challenges our perspectives in a globalized world.
His talk, “International Education in the Age of Globalization,” examines how studying in the U.S. can broaden access to knowledge and innovation across disciplines, while also revealing the underlying cultural narratives that may perpetuate inequality between the Global North and the Global South. Dr. Zunguze invites us to reimagine international education as a space for critical reflection, cultural exchange, and social transformation—empowering communities both abroad and at home.
Following the keynote, Dr. Zunguze will lead a student panel discussion on the personal and collective impact of global learning experiences.
About Dr. Zunguze
Born and raised in Mozambique, Southeastern Africa, Dr. Jeremias Zunguze began his academic journey in the Monterey Bay area as an international student at Monterey Peninsula College in 2002. He went on to earn his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from UC Berkeley. His research interests span critical theory, Ethnic Studies, and Africana Studies.
