Course enrollment for degree students

The Spring 2026 course schedule will be available on October 6, 2025. We encourage you to pay the $100 Enrollment Confirmation fee once you receive your admission, so you can begin the course enrollment process as soon as it opens.

Assistance with course enrollment

Degree students can visit the academic course planning for advising, registration information and assistance. You can schedule an online appointment with your advisor.

Catalog vs. current course schedule

You will need to check the current course schedule for your semester to make sure the classes you intent to take are available. Do not use the course catalog to choose your courses.

Course load

  • Students can take between 12-17 units (credits) per semester, and most students take between 12-15.
  • For each unit of class time, plan to spend at least 2-3 hours per week studying outside of class.
  • Undergraduate F-1 and J-1 Visa students are required to take at least 12 units (8 units for graduate students) to maintain immigration status. At least 9 of these units must be in-person or hybrid with in-person components.

Class level

  • Courses numbered 100-299 are "lower division" (for first and second-year university students). They are usually introductory in nature and have fewer/no prerequisites.
  • Courses numbered 300-499 are "upper division" (for third and fourth-year university students). They generally have more prerequisites.
  • Courses numbered 500-699 are graduate-level courses and are restricted from exchange students.

Modes of Instruction

  • Face to Face: Meets solely in-person
  • Hybrid (with In-Person Components): Meets in-person and online
  • Fully Online:
