Scheid Vineyards Supports Sustainable Hospitality Management Students

April 5, 2024

Cal State Monterey Bay’s Sustainable Hospitality Management Degree Program is proud to partner with Scheid Vineyards to celebrate Earth Month again this year!

Scheid Vineyards' Earth Month Promotion Supports the Sustainable Hospitality Management Program

During the month of April, 10% of select bottle sales at tasting rooms AND 10% of all online orders will be donated to the Sustainable Hospitality Management(SHM) program to support its mission of preparing future leaders in the hospitality and tourism industry with sustainable knowledge and skills.

Focus on Sustainability at Scheid Vineyards

Scheid Vineyards' commitment to sustainability aligns well with the goals and values of the Sustainable Hospitality Management degree program. Both entities emphasize the importance of environmental stewardship, community engagement, and ethical business practices within the context of the hospitality and wine industry.

Scheid Vineyards has been dedicated to sustainability since its inception in 1972. They prioritize environmental stewardship and fair treatment of employees. The winery operates a wind turbine that powers its operations and provides renewable energy to local homes. They use efficient tank designs, compost grape waste, recycle winery water, and minimize transportation emissions. Their efforts have been recognized with the California Green Medal Environment award. Sustainable practices include drip irrigation, cover crops, integrated pest management, and installing owl boxes to control pests naturally.

Visit Scheid's vineyard in Greenfield, CA, or their tasting room in Carmel-By-The Sea, to try their exceptional wines. Or simply shop online! Either way, your wine purchase by April 30, 2024, supports a local business committed to sustainable practices while helping the Sustainable Hospitality Management degree program grow!
