Steps to Apply for Returning Students

Welcome back, Otter!

If you've been away from Cal State Monterey Bay for a while and are thinking about finishing your degree, we’re here to help you every step of the way.

What is a Returning Student?

Every student is unique, and so is your educational journey. To be considered a returning student, you must: 

  • Have previously been admitted to an undergraduate degree program at Cal State Monterey Bay
  • Have enrolled in and earned grades in courses at Cal State Monterey Bay
  • Have not yet earned a degree from Cal State Monterey Bay
  • Have not been enrolled in or attended courses here as a degree-seeking student for the past two semesters

Note: If you are a degree-seeking student on an informal or formal leave of absence, you do not need to reapply for admission.

Steps to Re-enroll

If you’re a past student and wish to re-enroll, we encourage you to first: 

You will need to reapply for admission through Cal State Apply during the priority application filing period:

  • Spring: August 1 through October 16
  • Fall: October 1 through January 16

Disqualified Students

Students who have been academically disqualified from Cal State Monterey Bay who wish to return as a regularly enrolled student must also meet specific criteria and submit an Appeal for Reinstatement form.
