Required Documents for DWID Students

DWID applicants may be required to submit official transcripts and foreign credit evaluations from previous institutions.

Transfer applicants

Official transcripts and foreign credit evaluations for each non-U.S. college or university attended

Graduate/credential applicants

Official transcripts and foreign credit evaluations for each non-U.S. college or university attended

Transcript/Translation Services

We recommend that students use one of the following services to submit transcripts and evaluations to CSUMB:

  • World Education Services (WES)
  • SpanTran
  • Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
  • International Education Research Foundation (IERF)

English Proficiency Requirements

All applicants, regardless of citizenship, whose preparatory education was mostly in a language other than English, must demonstrate proficiency in English. 

This requirement can be satisfied by any of the following:

Applicant Type

Required Scores

First-Year Students

  • TOEFL iBT score of 61, or paper-based score of 500
  • IELTS score of 6.0
  • PTE score of 45
  • Attending a school full-time where English was the primary language of instruction for at least three years immediately preceding admission to CSUMB

Transfer Students

  • Any of the above; or
  • Transferring with college credit that meets the CSUMB General Education Area A2 (written communication) requirement

Graduate/Credential/Certificate Students

  • OEFL iBT score of 80, or paper-based score of 550
  • IELTS score of 6.5
  • PTE score of 65
  • Attending a school full-time where English was the primary language of instruction for at least three years immediately preceding admission to CSUMB
