The B.A. in Sociology program will take you on a study of groups, organizations, identities, cultures, institutions, and social structures to examine and analyze the patterns of social life in a way that will uniquely prepare you for a career addressing contemporary societal problems and achieve your educational, career, and personal goals.

The program will prepare you to succeed with the ability to analyze and discuss social issues from multiple perspectives. You’ll also develop excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills, as well as the outstanding communication skills it takes to present your analysis in a wide range of written and oral formats.
Educational Objectives
Our flexible and customizable curriculum will allow you to tailor the program to your own interests, choosing electives that span many sociological specializations and conducting research activities in areas meaningful and relevant to you.
Our online and in-person courses will enable you to complete the program in a way that works best for you, so that you don’t have to sacrifice current personal, professional, or family responsibilities.
Our senior capstone project will position you to explore a sociological topic of your choosing in depth, where you’ll collect and analyze original data about an issue or problem that is meaningful to you, your family, or your community.

- SOC 400 - Capstone Proposal Units: 3
- SOC 402 - Capstone Seminar Units: 3
Complete one of the following courses:

Our inspiring coastal location will provide you with distinctive opportunities to study social issues related to human interaction with the environment and the local area, such as tourism, climate change, agriculture, environmental justice, animal-human interaction, and more.
