Our electives and options for thesis or comprehensive exam means you’ll be able to customize the curriculum in a way that best aligns with your goals and interests, and complete the program in a way that fits with your distinctive strengths.

Our emphasis on leadership skills will not only prepare you for a career as a leader in instruction and curriculum, it will also qualify you to serve as a mentor for current and future educators, using your knowledge and skills to equip them to improve their teaching abilities at the college level.

Our integration of a multicultural and social justice perspective, along with the latest curriculum and instruction theories and best practices, will add a unique dimension to your preparation, positioning you as an exemplary educator ready to more fully promote the learning, living, and growth of students.

Students who choose to do a thesis to complete the program often focus on educational issues that take advantage of our coastal environment, including areas like environmental education and marine science education. You may also focus on these types of educational areas as a research assistant collaborating with faculty on projects that center on CSUMB’s geographic region.
