Kinesiology faculty members at Cal State Monterey Bay explore human movement through research projects of all kinds, from athletic performance to disease management. This creates rich real-world learning experiences for our students.
Student Research Opportunities
Undergraduate research is a fantastic way to build skills and boost your resume. CSUMB students of all majors have access to a variety of experiences through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC).
Within our department, kinesiology majors can get involved with ongoing faculty research in many ways, including:
- Study planning
- Data analysis
- Conference presentations
- Writing journal articles
Example in Action: Exercise and Parkinson’s Disease
Dr. Maria Bellumori’s research focuses on how exercise can help slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease. Her work extends into the community, where students help her teach free classes at a local fitness center.
The experience blends research and service-learning, giving students an opportunity to not only work one-on-one with clients but also to see the positive impact of their work firsthand.
