With strong connections to community partners and a curriculum that integrates applied projects, you’ll graduate ready for careers in health and fitness or advanced graduate study.

A kinesiology degree prepares you for careers in health promotion, rehabilitation and fitness. Graduates work as exercise specialists, wellness coaches, strength and conditioning professionals, health educators, and physical therapy aides. Many continue on to graduate study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training or public health, building on the strong foundation gained at CSUMB.

Pursue the Health and Wellness minor to learn the fundamental principles common to the field of personal health and well-being, including nutrition, fitness, and stress management. Or add a Human Movement minor to understand how activity helps prevent injury and disease — something that can be applied to a wide range of professional disciplines.
We lead this national initiative, recognizing physical activity as a vital sign of health, at CSUMB. Students organize campus-wide events, run wellness campaigns, and create digital health resources.
Students lead this campaign, which encourages the campus community to reduce sedentary time and integrate movement into daily life. It blends education with fun, practical strategies for active living.
Cal State Monterey Bay often welcomes back former Otters with open arms. Nowhere has that been more true than within the Otter Athletics program, where five CSUMB alumni have found homes and careers as Otters.
Exercise is Medicine program is recognized by the American College of Sports Medicine.
