Understand and Plan Your GPA

Your GPA reflects your academic performance and plays a role in academic standing, graduation eligibility, honors, and graduate school opportunities.

Use the CSUMB GPA Calculator to:

  • Estimate your current cumulative GPA
  • Project how future grades may affect your standing
  • Plan course strategies to reach specific GPA goals

This tool can help you make informed decisions about your academic path and understand what it will take to improve or maintain your GPA.

Step 1: Access Your Transcript

Log in to your OASIS Student Center and open your CSUMB transcript. Go to the “Undergraduate Career Totals” section. You can use your unofficial transcript for this.

Step 2: Locate Your GPA Information

In this section, find your:

  • GPA Units – the number of credits that count toward your GPA

  • Points – your weighted grade totals based on the grades you earned

Step 3: Use the GPA Calculator

Enter your GPA Units and Points into the calculator above. Use the Cumulative GPA section to display either your CSUMB GPA or Overall (All College) GPA, and use the Semester GPA section to estimate how your current grades will affect your cumulative GPA.

  • CSUMB GPA – based only on courses taken at CSUMB

  • Overall GPA – includes all college-level coursework you've completed

Step 4: If You're Repeating a Course

Before adjusting your GPA for a repeated course, please meet with your Success Advisor. GPA adjustments for repeats can be tricky and easy to miscalculate. Here are some important guidelines:

  • A course can only be included in your GPA once

  • The repeated course must be taken at CSUMB and must be the exact same course

  • You may repeat up to 16 units for Grade Forgiveness

Your Success Advisor can help you accurately reflect any repeated courses in your GPA.
