The office of Institutional Assessment and Research (IAR) supports campus decision-making and continuous improvement through the collection, analysis and reporting of university data. As the official source for institutional statistics, IAR helps ensure that CSUMB’s planning, policy development and reporting efforts are rooted in integrity, accuracy and inquiry.
The office’s mission is guided by a question-driven approach that values reflection, transparency and evidence-based action, which are key components of CSUMB’s commitment to educational effectiveness and regional stewardship.

IAR Insights is a periodic publication that highlights data-driven analysis and updates—such as trends in student outcomes, dashboards, and data visualizations—to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement across campus.

IAR provides flexible, user-centered assistance to help campus stakeholders access, understand and use data effectively. Services include self-guided support, open labs, curated data presentations, acceptance testing and feedback via the Data User Advisory Group (DUAG) and in-depth engagement with selected users to support specific data needs and improvements.

IAR supports campus and external data needs when information is not publicly accessible or available through existing systems. When data cannot be found, submit a request for guidance, new or modified reports or assistance connecting with the information needed to support planning, analysis and decision-making.
