Title 38 Compliance

CSUMB, in compliance with 38 U.S.C. § 3679(e) allows all matriculated students that are covered individuals to attend or participate in their course of education during the period beginning on the date on which the individual provides to the educational institution a certificate of eligibility (COE) for entitlement to educational assistance under chapter 31 or 33 and ending on the earlier of the following dates:

1) The date on which the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) provides payment for a course of education to CSUMB

2) The date that is 90 days after the date on which the CSUMB School Certifying Official certifies tuition and fees following receipt of the COE from the student.

Furthermore, CSUMB ensures that it will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds because of their inability to meet financial obligations due to the delayed disbursement funding from the DVA under chapter 31 or 33.

NOTE: A Covered Individual is any individual who is entitled to educational assistance under chapter 31, Veterans Readiness & Employment, or chapter 33, Post 9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
