Sustainability
At Cal State Monterey Bay, we strive to support our natural environment and all of those who live within it.
Sustainability for today, tomorrow, and everyone.
Sustainability at CSUMB isn’t a distant goal—it’s something you can see, touch, eat, and try every day.
From refilling your shampoo bottle at a Wonderfil station, charging your phone at a solar bench, or choosing delicious plant-based meals in the Dining Commons, to finding gently used school supplies for the new semester at Second Wave Supplies, or upcycling old treasures in the Makerspace, sustainability here is hands-on and built into campus life.
Our walkable campus, outdoor spaces, disc golf courses, and access to the natural beauty of the Monterey Bay invite us to slow down and connect with place. Together, we grow more sustainable each day as 80% of our academic departments integrate sustainability into what they teach. Whether you’re a student, staff, or faculty, there’s no single “right way” to be sustainable at CSUMB, there’s lots of ways to jump in, experiment, and be part of the next wave of positive change.
