Yvonne Gordon, Interim Police Chief

Interim Police Chief Yvonne Gordon is honored to serve the students, staff, faculty, residents, and visitors of the campus community and surrounding areas. She came to CSU Monterey Bay in October 2016. She previously served the communities of the Central San Joaquin Valley in both sworn and civilian capacities at the Fresno Police Department and the Kings County Sheriff’s Department. She has over 30 years of law enforcement experience.

During her career, Chief Gordon has served as a Police Commander, a Records Supervisor, CLETS Coordinator, Dispatcher, Reserve Deputy for Extradition, Crime Scene Investigator, Evidence Technician, Police Officer, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, District Crime Suppression Team member, Detective for the Domestic Violence Unit & Sexual Assault Unit, Bike Patrol Officer and Sergeant. Throughout her career, Chief Gordon has often been the driving force behind organizing events, collaborating with the community, and building connections between law enforcement and at-risk populations, honored with several awards for her service.

Chief Gordon attended Fresno State University and CSU Long Beach, holds both the supervisory and management certifications from California Police Officers Standards & Training, and will complete executive leadership certification in June 2024.
