Ken Folsom, Emergency Manager

Ken Folsom came to the University Police Department in January of 2016 from the Geauga County Department of Emergency Services in Ohio,where he worked for over 14 years and serving as Deputy Director for the last seven years. Ken began his career in the fire service in 1976 serving as a firefighter on various fire department in Geauga County.

He has been decorated twice in his career, once for outstanding rescue skills with the Russell Fire Department and once as Geauga County Fire Fighter of the Year for Heroism with the Newbury Fire Department.He has been a hazardous materials technician with the Geauga County Hazardous Materials Team since 1993 and served as the Hazmat Team Coordinator for many years. During his time with Geauga County he attended numerous Hazardous Materials and Terrorism/Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) courses across the country. He is a certified Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) an expert indesign and conducting of emergency preparedness exercises, is certified as a General WMD/Terrorism Instructor and an Incident Command Instructor with theU.S. Department of Homeland Security.
