In addition to new president Vanya Quiñones, CSU Monterey Bay welcomed many other new leaders and faculty in 2022.

New faces head the Otter Cross Cultural Center, or OC3, in its commitment to advancing the university's vision of diversity, cross-culturalism, and social justice.

OC3 Director Rudy Medina grew up in Salinas California, the son of migrant farmworkers who maintained close ties to their “ranchito” in Santa Catarina, Guanajuato, Mexico. He credits his upbringing with motivating him to pursue his education and career.

“My parents and grandparents always stressed the importance of culture, community, and paying it forward,” Medina said.

He has worked in various capacities with youth and their families promoting higher education, maintaining a strong commitment to fostering agency and self-advocacy.
