California State University Board of Trustees announced today that Joseph I. Castro is the new Chancellor-select and will assume the role on Jan. 4, 2021.

As the current president of Fresno State, Castro brings a deep understanding of the CSU mission and values. I enjoyed working with Chancellor-select Castro over the past years, and I am looking forward to continuing our relationship as he assumes this new role.

Please join the live “Conversation with the Chancellor-select” hosted by Monica Lozano, president and CEO of the College Futures Foundation, this Friday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. This event is a unique opportunity for the CSU’s students, faculty, staff and stakeholders to learn more about Dr. Castro and his vision for the CSU.

We also take this time to thank our outgoing Chancellor Timothy P. White, who is retiring this year. His leadership guided the CSU system through very successful times since 2012, increasing graduation rates and broadening access to everyone who desires higher education in California.
