CSUMB’s iiED to Host Startup Investment & Community Capital Expo
SEASIDE, Calif., August 27, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay’s (CSUMB) Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) is set to host the 2019 Startup Investment & Community Expo on September, 27, 2019 at the Embassy Suites in Seaside.
SEASIDE, Calif., August 27, 2019 – California State University, Monterey Bay’s (CSUMB) Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED) is set to host the 2019 Startup Investment & Community Expo on September, 27, 2019 at the Embassy Suites in Seaside.
The goal of this community expo is to provide businesses, investors, chamber of commerce members and the larger Monterey Bay community a forum for connecting local and regional startup and emerging business projects to investors and other sources of funding.
The event will showcase emerging companies and connect regional companies with venture capitalists, bankers, angel investors and others who can help them raise the capital they need to grow their business. The event will feature panels on investing and obtaining funding, plus company pitches to panels of investors. The expo is a collaboration between the Startup Investment community and the Slow Money/Community Capital community in the Monterey Bay region.
The goal of this expo is to support entrepreneurs in our region by connecting them with sources of funding and to provide investors in the region with innovative companies to invest in."— iiED executive director and CSUMB College of Business associate professor Brad Barbeau.
As a special addition to the event, the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold a special session on Pathways to Business Success, featuring panelists speaking on how businesses can succeed in this challenging business environment.
CSUMB’s Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED), housed in the College of Business, hosts events to promote entrepreneurship in the Monterey Bay Region and foster the development of a vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region. The Startup Investment & Community Capital Expo (SICC) offers a unique opportunity for startup companies, investors, and companies and organizations that provide services to new companies.
