The California State University (CSU) is planning to return to in-person instruction for Fall 2021.

Outgoing CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White stated that, just as virtual instruction had been announced as early as possible, the CSU wants to notify students and their families of the update quickly so they can begin planning.

“While we are currently going through a very difficult surge in the pandemic, there is light at the end of the tunnel with the promising progress on vaccines,” White said.

White’s successor, CSU Chancellor-select Joseph I. Castro — who assumes full duties on Jan. 4, 2021 — said the announcement comes at a good time as high school and transfer students’ deadline to apply for the fall term has been extended until Dec. 15.

“I urge eligible students to apply for admission to one or more CSU campuses,” Castro said.

That can be done online through the Cal State Apply website.

Application fee waivers and financial aid programs are available to students.

The CSU announcement goes on to state that it is too early to tell if the Summer 2021 term can be safely conducted in person and will be decided closer to that registration deadline.
