2nd Avenue concept canceled after analysis shows insufficient benefit
Leadership team to focus on internal priorities that increase enrollment and improve students' experience on campus.
After assessing the current financial needs of the university and considering the feedback from the campus community relating to the parcel of land on the northwest corner of campus, the 2nd Avenue concept was deemed to not provide sufficient benefit to the student and campus community.
In an email letter to faculty and staff on Monday, Jan. 23, Glen R. Nelson, vice president of Administration and Finance, and CFO and executive director of the University Corporation, said it had been valuable to explore the opportunity.
“We appreciate the time and effort of all who worked on the proposal and express our gratitude to the faculty, staff, students, and community members for your comments and input regarding the possible use of this vital university asset,” Nelson wrote.
He went on to say that the goal of the leadership team is to focus collective energy and resources on internal priorities that will directly impact increasing enrollment and improving student’s experience on campus.
