Scholarship keeps alumnus’ memory alive

Cinematic Arts and Technology student Evan Baker died in 2022, but his legacy continues.

Students in the cinematic arts and technology program can benefit from a scholarship honoring former CART student Evan Baker.

Art endures. And cinematic art is no exception. 

So, when Tina Arth considered how to keep the memory of her son alive, investing in the art form he devoted himself to seemed fitting. 

Arth’s son, Evan A. Baker, an alumnus of Cal State Monterey Bay’s Cinematic Arts and Technology program, died in 2022 from an aortic dissection, where the vessel breaks apart. 

"Evan was an amazing amalgam of intelligence, kindness, creativity,  logic, honesty, love and humor — truly the best person I ever knew," said  Arth. "And this isn't a mom speaking — anyone who worked or played  with him, including a legion of friends from his time at CSUMB, would say  the same thing."
