iiED hosts Startup Factory Nov. 2 at CSUMB
The annual event draws hopeful entrepreneurs looking to start new businesses.
The Institute for Innovation and Economic Development (iiED), an initiative of Cal State Monterey Bay’s College of Business, is hosting the Startup Factory, an annual one-day immersive event tailored to aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators and anyone curious about the entrepreneurial world. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the College of Business. Startup Factory is designed for those ready to take the initial steps in launching a business or who want to gain a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial process. The event will feature a keynote address by Glenn Bell, an accomplished Monterey-based guitarist and CSUMB alumnus. Bell has performed at venues across the nation, from the Washington Hilton to South by Southwest. He is currently in the reggae band Sensory Tribe and hip-hop/R&B group The Bassment.
In partnership with the Office of Inclusive Excellence, this event underscores the university’s dedication to diversity, inclusion and student success.
In addition to Bell’s keynote address, event highlights include the following:
- Breakfast and lunch included
- Hands-on business startup activities and workshops
- Development of skills for idea refinement and effective communication
- Networking with fellow participants and industry mentors
- Concluding panel discussion featuring student participants and prominent business leaders, offering insights into the startup journey and real-world advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.
More than an educational event, Startup Factory provides a vibrant platform for individuals to learn about and engage in the entrepreneurial journey. Participants will walk away with practical knowledge and a stronger foundation for launching their business ventures.
