The 15th birthday of CSUMB’s Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in the library’s atrium.

Members of the general public and campus community are invited. A dozen members of both the Tanimura and Antle families are expected to attend.

There will be remarks by Brian Antle, Gary Tanimura, CSUMB Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Andrew Lawson and President Vanya Quiñones. There will also be cake, balloons, decorations and tours.

The 136,000-square-foot library had its public dedication Dec. 5, 2008. It is a campus resource center for books, periodicals and related materials, research and interlibrary loans. It also features a lounge, common areas, study rooms, a makerspace, a technology desk, a cafe, librarian help desks, course reserves — even video game consoles.

Members of the general public can come in to read, consult and study books, periodicals, microforms and reference materials, and use public access computers to access the library’s electronic collections. For a fee, anyone 18 and older can check out books.
