Sports reps from Dallas Mavericks and London Olympics speak at CSUMB
A panel of high-profile sports professionals will talk about management, marketing, analytics, coaching and event management.

California State University, Monterey Bay’s College of Business has organized a workshop titled “Careers in Sports” that is subtitled “(Hint: You don’t have to be an athlete).”
A panel of high-profile sports professionals will talk about management, marketing, analytics, coaching and event management revolving around the world of sports from 6 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8.
They include:
- Roland Beech, NBA analytics pioneer and ex-vice president of Basketball Operations for the Dallas Mavericks and the Sacramento Kings
- Scot Smythe, International Sports Marketing and Operations for the 2012 London Olympics
- Mike Fitzsimmons, former trainer for a Major League Baseball team and YMCA executive director
- Matt Hopkins, assistant basketball coach at Cabrillo College
The Wednesday event begins with pizza at 5:30 p.m., followed by the panel discussion from 6 - 7 p.m., at the Business and Information Technology building, Room 110.
