Cal State Monterey Bay’s student theater arts club, The Performing Otters, is taking the World Theater stage for two free performances of the family-friendly comedy “You Can’t Take It With You.”

TPO’s version of the three-act play is set in the 1950s and ‘60s and follows a New York family whose adult daughter falls in love with a Wall Street man. The confluence of the two families results in all kinds of idiosyncratic hijinx.

Michaela Velasco, who is involved in the production, says, “It's very fun to watch!”

The play was adapted into a 1938 film by Frank Capra, starring Jimmy Stewart, Jean Arthur and Lionel Barrymore.

The performances are free to the public and start 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2, at the World Theater, 5260 Sixth Ave., Seaside.
