2019 President’s Medal Awards Announced

SEASIDE, Ca., January 16, 2020 – California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) President Eduardo M. Ochoa awarded three employees with the President’s Medal Awards at CSUMB’s annual staff and faculty appreciation breakfast today, honoring their service to the university.

Kris Roney, associate vice president for Academic Programs and dean of University College & Graduate Studies was awarded the 2019 Management Personnel President’s award. Roney’s work with Graduation Initiative 2025, CSU Executive Orders 1100 and 1110, along with the creation and development of University College has been instrumental to the success of the university.

Chrissy Lofgren received the 2019 staff President’s award for her commitment to CSUMB’s value of lifelong learning and continuous improvement. Chrissy is a CSUMB alumna who currently works in the Center for Advising, Career and Student Success where she serves as an academic advisor focused on student success.

College of Business professor Marylou Shockley was awarded the 2019 Faculty President’s award for her exceptional leadership and service to CSUMB both in the College of Business and Academic Senate. Shockley is a campus leader and well-respected by faculty, staff, and administrators who has a deep understanding of the campus culture and the issues facing the CSUMB community.

In addition to the Presidents Medal Award recipients, three more employees were individually recognized for their 25 years of service to CSUMB. Those employees who received their 25-year pins were Wynter Nichols from technology support services, Monica Rodriguez from University Corporation and Armando Arias from the School of Social, Behavioral and Global Studies.
