Student Clubs and Organizations

Our clubs and organizations bring students together around shared interests, leadership, service, culture, and recreation. Whether you want to join an existing group or explore something new, there’s a place for you.

Get Involved on Campus

Student involvement is a core part of the Cal State Monterey Bay experience. Clubs and organizations provide opportunities to build community, develop leadership skills and engage with campus life in meaningful ways.

We support student organizations through dedicated councils that offer guidance, resources and leadership development. Each council focuses on a different type of involvement, helping students find the right fit for their interests and goals.

Whether you are interested in academics, culture, recreation, service or leadership, there is a place to get involved.

Why Should You Join a Club?

Joining a student organization enhances your experience beyond academics. Those involved in clubs and organizations often develop skills that support personal growth, leadership and future success.

You’ll gain opportunities to:

Additionally, recognized student organizations receive access to campus support to help their group operate and grow, including:

  • Reserving classrooms, conference rooms and other campus spaces
  • Funding options for events and activities
  • Guidance and resources from student life staff

MyRaft

MyRaft is CSUMB’s student engagement platform. Students use MyRaft to discover and join clubs and organizations, register for events, connect with campus resources and services, and interact with other students through posts and chat.

Inter-Club Council (ICC)

Supports academic, cultural, identity-based, advocacy, faith and interest-based clubs. ICC helps organizations foster leadership development, campus engagement and collaboration across student groups.

Sports Club Council (SCC)

Supports student-led sports clubs focused on recreation, competition and wellness. SCC assists with organization oversight, risk management and leadership development for sports teams.

Supports recognized fraternities and sororities at CSUMB. Greek Life organizations emphasize leadership, scholarship, service and community connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Unless stated otherwise, clubs do not have formal requirements, and many welcome students who are new to the activity or topic. That said, having an interest in the club’s focus can make participation more enjoyable and help you get the most out of the experience.

Yes. Many students choose to participate in more than one club or organization, especially if their interests span different areas. We encourage you to explore what works best for you while being mindful of your time and commitments so you can stay balanced and focused on your academics.

Most student organizations are open to students from all majors. Clubs bring together students with diverse academic backgrounds, often leading to stronger collaboration and new perspectives. As you get involved, it’s a good idea to choose activities that complement your academic goals and schedule.
